Reiki, pronounced ray-key, is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. A powerful yet simple technique rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900′s, it can sometimes have profound results.
The word “Reiki,” is actually two words together. Rei is interpreted as higher knowledge or spiritual intelligence. Ki is the non-physical energy that animates all living beings. If your life energy is low or if there is restriction, you are more vulnerable to illness. Ki is also the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.
Reiki is God Conscious Energy
Reiki goes to where it is needed and actually the healee draws to him/her the energy needed. Administered by “laying on of hands” or just beaming, it is done fully clothed. The uniqueness of Reiki lies in the fact that, it is the only technique that is passed on in an attunement process from master to student. The Reiki Master does not direct the process but is simply a channel for the attunement energy flowing from Source.
Reiki Attunement
A Reiki attunement is in most cases a powerful spiritual experience for both the student and Master. During attunements, many people see colors, get messages, have visions and experience healings of physical symptoms. Also many people report an increase in intuitive awareness.
When you have received a Reiki attunement, you have Reiki for the rest of your life even if you don’t use it for a long time. Be aware that a Reiki attunement or session can start a cleansing process that affects the physical body as well as the mind and emotions. This doesn’t mean that it will happen but just understand that there is nothing to fear but allow its completion.
Reiki Energy Goes Where it is Needed
After the attunement all that is necessary to use Reiki is the intent and the energy starts flowing and goes where it is needed. In a session, it is very important that you are in detached, calm state and not attached to the outcome. In a state of heightened awareness, if you let go of any protocol the Reiki energy will guide your hands to where it needs to go.
Sometimes healing doesn’t get activated in ways you think. Sometimes no healing on any level happens, that domain is between Source and the healee. You are a channel for the Reiki energy so in giving a treatment, you are receiving a treatment, increasing your energy and well being.
Reiki Master
There are many books on Reiki, most also, revealing the symbols that have been held secret for years. But it is only through attunements with a Reiki Master that the energy is activated. It is important that you resonate with the Reiki Master that you choose. When the student is ready, the teacher appears.
The Master level of Reiki brings with it tremendous responsibility, it is not about having “power of knowledge” over another, it is about being master of oneself. It is in fact a humbling experience, one in which there is a dedication to service. Because as you merge with the Reiki consciousness, you’ll know more deeply that we all come from God and that we are all one in God.
